Harrison, Guy Fraser

Harrison, Guy Fraser, English-American conductor; b. Guildford, Surrey, Nov. 6, 1894; d. San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, Feb. 20, 1986. He studied at the Royal Coll. of Music, where he won an organ scholarship. He served as an organist of the Episcopal Cathedral in Manila (1914–20), then was organist of St. Paul’s Cathedral in Rochester, N.Y. (1920–24) and then conductor of the Eastman Theater Orch. in Rochester (1924–29) and the Rochester Civic Orch. (1930–51). He was also assoc. conductor of the Rochester Phil. (1930–51). From 1951 to 1973 he was conductor of the Okla. City Sym. Orch.
