PERSONAL:

Born October 19, 1921, near Coweta, OK; died of complications related to pulmonary fibrosis, July 19, 2003, in Orlando, FL; married Vonette Zachary, 1948; children: Zachary, Brad. Education: Northeastern State University, graduated with honors, 1944; attended Princeton Theological Seminary, 1946, and Fuller Theological Seminary, c. 1947.

CAREER:

Bright's California Confections, Los Angeles, CA, founder and owner, 1944-51; Campus Crusade for Christ, Orlando, FL, founder and president, 1951-2003. Coproducer of the feature film Jesus, released by Warner Bros. in 1979, and later dubbed in more than eight hundred languages for distribution abroad.

AWARDS, HONORS:

Templeton Prize for Progress in Religion, 1996; Lifetime Achievement Award, Northeastern State University, and Lifetime Inspiration Award, Religious Heritage of America Foundation, both 2000; Lifetime Achievement Award, National Association of Evangelicals, 2001; inducted into National Religious Broadcasters Hall of Fame, 2002.
