Wiedemann Hermann
Wiedemann, Hermann, German baritone; b. 1879; d. Berlin, July 2,1944. He made his operatic debut in Elberfeld in 1905. After singing in Brunn (1906-10), he was a member of the Hamburg Opera (1910-14), the Berlin Royal Opera (1914-16), and the Vienna Court (later State) Opera (1916-44). He also sang at the Salzburg Festivals (1922-41) and at London’s Covent Garden (1933, 1938). Among his best roles were Guglielmo, Beckmesser, Alberich, and Donner.
