Wallace, Lucille

Wallace, Lucille, American-born English harpsichordist and pianist; b. Chicago, Feb. 22, 1898; d. London, March 21,1977. She studied at the Bush Cons, in Chicago (B.Mus.), attended Vassar Coll., took courses in music history with Adler at the Univ. of Vienna (1923-24), and was a student of Boulanger and Landowska in Paris, and of Schnabel in Berlin. She became principally known as an accomplished harpsichordist, winning esteem as an interpreter of Domenico Scarlatti and Couperin. In 1931 she married Clifford Curzon.
