Sang with Glyndebourne co. at Edinburgh Fest. 1948 and at Glyndebourne 1949–50, 1952–6, 1959–61. Scottish Opera 1966–75. Successful buffo singer, also in Gilbert and Sullivan. Many appearances in popular musicals and as member of radio panel games. OBE 1983.
