Tagliapietra, Giovanni

Tagliapietra, Giovanni, Italian baritone; b. Venice, Dec. 24, 1846; d. N.Y., April 11, 1921. He studied naval architecture and graduated from the Univ. of Padua. After a study of singing with Giovanni Corsi, he appeared in various Italian opera houses. He made a tour of South America, and in 1874 was engaged as member of Max Strakosch’s company and sang in the U.S. In 1876 he married (Maria) Teresa Carreño, but they divorced.
