Sabbatini, Galeazzo
Sabbatini, Galeazzo , Italian composer and music theorist; b. probably in Pesaro, 1597; d. there, Dec. 6, 1662. He studied with Vincenzo Pellegrini, canon of Pesaro Cathedral. Sabbatini was subsequently canon there (1626–30), then was maestro di cappella to the Duke of Mirandola (1630–39); again served as canon at Pesaro Cathedral (from 1641). He publ. the theoretical vol. Regola facile e breve per sonare sopra il basso continuo nell’organo, manacordo o altro simile strumento (Venice, 1628). He pubi. 5 books of madrigals a 2–5 (Venice, 1625–36) and various sacred works.
