Paik, Kun-Woo

Paik, Kun-Woo, Korean pianist; b. Seoul, March 10, 1946. He studied music with his father, making his public debut when he was 8. He went to the U.S. in 1960 to continue his studies at the Juilliard School of Music in N.Y. with Rosina Lhévinne; won the Naumburg Award, and also studied with Ilona Kabos in London and Wilhelm Kempff in Italy. He subsequently developed a fine concert career, appearing as soloist with leading orchs. of North America as well as in Europe.
