Mosca, Giuseppe

Mosca, Giuseppe , Italian composer, brother of Luigi Mosca; b. Naples, 1772; d. Messina, Sept. 14, 1839. He studied with Fenaroli at the Cons, of S. Maria di Loreto in Naples. He was engaged as répétiteur at the ThéâtreItalien, Paris (1803–10), then was music director at the Teatro Carolino in Palermo (1817–20). He later was director of music at a Messina theater (1827). He wrote 42 operas, ballets, and other stage pieces.
