Mettenleiter, Dominicus

Mettenleiter, Dominicus, German music historian, brother of Johann Georg Mettenleiter; b. Tannhausen, near Ellwangen, May 20, 1822; d. Regensburg, May 2, 1868. He collaborated with his brother in the publication of his Enchiridion chorale and publ, on his own several valuable works dealing with music in Bavaria:Aus der musikalischen Vergangenheit bayrischer Städte: Musikgeschichte der Stadt Regensburg (Regensburg, 1866), Musikgeschichte der Oberpfalz (Amberg, 1867), etc. He also wrote a biography of his brother (Brixen, 1866) and of Karl Proske (Regensburg, 1868; 2nd ed., 1895). His valuable music collection was incorporated with Proske’s library in Regensburg. His cousin, Bernhard Mettenleiter (b. Wallerstein, April 25, 1822; d. Marktheidenfeld, Jan. 14, 1901), was an organist, choirmaster, teacher, and composer.
