Mariani, Luciano, Italian bass; b. Cremona, 1801; d. Piacenza, June 10, 1859. He created the role of Oroe in Semiramide (1823), Rodolfo in La sonnambula (1831), and Alfonso in Lucrezia Borgia (1833). His sister, Rosa (b. Cremona, 1799; place and date of death unknown), was also a singer. In 1818 she made her operatic debut in Cremona. In 1823 she created the role of Arsace in Semiramide. She appeared at the King’s Theatre in London in 1832.
