Levy (originally, Lévy), Frank

Levy (originally, Lévy), Frank, Swiss-American cellist and composer, son of Ernst Lévy; b. Paris, Oct. 15, 1930. He went to America with his father, and studied at the Juilliard School of Music in N.Y. (B.S., 1951) and at the Univ. of Chicago (M.A., 1954); also studied cello with Leonard Rose and Janos Starker in N.Y. He was a cellist invarious orchs.

Ricercar for 4 Cellos (1958); Sonata for Unaccompanied Cello (1959); Quintet for Flute and Strings (1959); Bassoon Concerto (1961); Trio for Clarinet, Horn, and Bassoon (1961); Sonata for Bassoon and Piano (1963); Fantasy for Tuba, Harp, Timpani, and Strings (1965); choruses and solo songs.
