Lamy, Fernand

Lamy, Fernand, French composer and pedagogue; b. Chauvigny, Vienne, April 8, 1881; d. Paris, Sept. 18, 1966. After training at the Poitiers Cons., he studied with Bleuzet, Caussade, Dukas, and Ropartz in Paris, where he began his career as a conductor at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées. From 1914 to 1943 he was director of the Vallencienne Cons. In 1951 he was made inspector general for the arts and literature. He wrote mainly orch. works and choral music.
