Kotzwara, Franz [ Kocžwara, František] (b Prague, 1750; d London, 1791). Bohemian-born violinist, double-bass player, and composer. Settled in London 1775 and spent some time in Ireland in late 1780s. Was db. player at King's Th., London, in 1791. Won popularity with fantasia The Battle of Prague (c.1788), for pf. and optional extra instrs. Died during perverted sexual practice with prostitute who was acquitted of his murder.
