Kleinknecht, Jakob Friedrich

Kleinknecht, Jakob Friedrich, German flutist, violinist, and composer, brother of Johann Stephan Kleinknecht and Johann Wolfgang Kleinknecht; b.Ulm (baptized), April 8, 1722; d. Ansbach, Aug. 14, 1794. He studied with his father, then joined his brother Johann Wolfgang at the Bayreuth court. He turned to the violin in 1747, and was made asst. Kapellmeister in 1748, court composer in 1749, and Kapellmeister in 1761. He remained with the court when it moved to Ansbach in 1769. His extant works include a Sinfonia concertante for 2 Flutes, 2 Oboes, Strings, and Keyboard obbligato, a Violin Concerto, a Concerto for 2 Flutes and Orch. (publ. in Paris, 1776), 6 sonate da camera for Flute and Harpsichord or Cello (publ. in Nuremberg, 1748), and various keyboard sonatas.
