Kleinheinz, Franz Xaver

Kleinheinz, Franz Xaver, German conductor and composer; b. Mindelheim (baptized), June 26, 1765; d. Budapest, Jan. 26, 1832. He played in the Munich Orch., and in 1803 went to Vienna to study with Albrechtsberger. He then was active in Brünn, and subsequently was a theater conductor in Budapest (1814-15; 1817-24). He wrote the operas Harald (Budapest, March 22, 1814) and Der Käfig (Budapest, 1816), as well as a Piano Concerto, chamber music, and sacred choral works. He also made transcriptions for string quartet of Beethoven’s early piano sonatas.
