Grua, Carlo (Alisio) Pietro
Grua, Carlo (Alisio) Pietro, Italian composer, father of Franz Paul (Francesco de Paula or Paolo) Grua; b. probably in Milan, c. 1700; d. Mannheim (buried), April 11, 1773. He may have been the son of Carlo Luigi Pietro Grua. He was Kapellmeister at the court of the Elector Palatine in Mannheim (1734-73), where his operas Meride (Jan. 17, 1742) and La demenza di Tito (Jan. 17, 1748) were first performed. He also wrote 5 oratorios and 2 Masses, but much of his output is not extant.
