Fiorè, Andrea Stef ano

Fiorè, Andrea Stef ano, Italian composer; b. Milan, 1686; d. Turin, Oct. 6, 1732. He was the precocious child of the cellist and composer Angelo Maria Fiore (b.c. 1660; d. Turin, June 4, 1723), who served as a cellist in the Franese court in Parma (1688–95) and in the ducal court in Turin (1697–1723). When he was 11, he joined his father as a member of the Accademia dei Filarmonici in Bologna. His Sinfinie da Mesa were publ. when he was 13 (Modena, 1699), during which time he was musico di camera of the Duke of Savoy. His patron made it possible for him to study with G.B. Somis in Rome. Upon resuming his duties with the Duke of Savoy, he served as his maestro di cappella from 1707 until his death. He composed some 21 operas (1707–29), several solo cantatas, and sacred works.
