Fetis, Edouard (-Louis-François)
Fetis, Edouard (-Louis-François), Belgian writer on music and librarian, son of François-Joseph and brother of Adolphe (-Louis-Eugene) Fétis; b. Bouvignes, near Dinant, May 16, 1812; d. Brussels, Jan. 31, 1909. After editing his father’s La Revue Musicale (1833–35), he was a librarian at the Royal Library in Brussels from 1836. He publ. in Brussels Description des richesses artistiques de Bruxelles (1847), Les Musiciens beiges (1848; 2nd ed., 1854), Les Artistes beiges à I’étranger (1857–65), and L’art dans la société et dans Vetat (1872).
