Boesch, Christian
Boesch, Christian, Austrian baritone; b. Vienna, July 27, 1941. He pursued his training at the Vienna Hochschule für Musik, and in 1966 made his operatic debut at the Bern Stadttheater. He became a member of the Vienna Volksoper in 1975, later scoring notable success at the Salzburg Festival in 1978 for his portrayal of Papageno, a role he also chose for his Metropolitan Opera debut in N.Y. on Feb. 17, 1979. He later sang Wozzeck and Masetto at the Metropolitan.
