Baden, (Peter) Conrad (Krohn)

Baden, (Peter) Conrad (Krohn), Norwegian organist, teacher, and composer; b. Drammen, Aug. 31, 1908; d. Oslo, June 11, 1989. He began his training with the Drammen organist Daniel Hanssen in 1926; after pursuing organ studies at the Oslo Cons. (graduated, 1931), he received composition instruction in Leipzig (1931–32), with Honegger and Rivier in Paris (1951–52), and in Vienna (1965). He served as a church organist in Drammen (1928–61) and Oslo (1961–75); taught at the Oslo Cons. (1948–73) and the Oslo Academy of Music (1973–78). His neo-Romanticism eventually gave way to a more modern style of composition.
