Aribo

Aribo, writer on music who flourished in the 11th century. He wrote the important treatise De musica (e. 1068–78), in which he devised a diagram with the modal tetrachords superimposed on the gamut. The diagram is known as the caprea (goat) due to the speed by which music can be measured by it on the monochord. The diagram superseded those by earlier writers on music.
