Leisurely family miniseries, based on the 1979 novel by Elizabeth Forsythe Hailey. Fields stars as the title character, Bess Steed Garner (based on the author's maternal grandmother), a well-off Texas belle who marries childhood sweetheart Robert Steed (Goldwyn) in 1907 and settles down to family life. Of course, nothing is settled as Beth bears children, Robert tries to make a go of his insurance business, their families interfere, and tragedy strikes. 316m/C VHS .
