In the Shadow of the Moon ★★★½ 2007 (PG)

Using original (and some never-before-seen) footage, this exceptional documentary examines the triumphs and failures of America's race to the moon, from the beginnings of the Apollo program to its end in 1972. Movie focuses on the astronauts who were on the missions, capturing the wonder and unique perspective of the men who looked at Earth from the surface of another world. Notably absent is the legendary (and incredibly private) Neil Armstrong. Through interviews and remastered footage, Sington creates a compelling, moving film about a time when humanity reached for the skies and technology equaled hope for the future. 100m/C DVD. D: David Sington; C: Clive North; M: Philip Sheppard.
