Luke Winter (Newton) and Joshua Monroe (McLaughlin) are best friends growing up in 1940s rural Georgia despite the fact that one is black and one white. While on an adventure, they make a discovery that leads new sheriff Frank Richards (Cain) into reopening the investigation into the unsolved murders of three local black men.
