One Missed Call
One Missed Call WOOf! 2008 (PG-13)
Yet another technophobic Japanese horror remake, this one looking for scares from college students who receive cell phone calls from their future selves that capture the sounds of their own looming deaths. Burns and Cho are cringe-worthy as the good cop/bad cop tandem investigating at the behest of the dewy and earnest co-ed (Sossamon), who also brings a child-abuse subplot into play. Meanwhile, director Valette fails to conjure much oogidy-boogidy, and even the gore is boring. 87m/C DVD . GE JP US GB Shannyn Sossamon, Edward Burns, Ana Claudia Talancon, Ray Wise, Azura Skye, Jason Beghe, Margaret Cho, Meagan Good; D: Eric Valette; W: Andrew Klavan; C: Glen MacPherson; M: Reinhold Heil, Johnny Klimek.
