The Killing of John Lennon ★★ 2007

Stylized pseudo-documentary examination of what led Mark David Chapman (Ball) to kill John Lennon. Using information from interviews and legal documents, movie charts Chapman's descent from married security guard in Hawaii to obsessed stalker who believed himself to be Holden Caulfield from “The Catcher in the Rye.” Dark and disturbing, the movie never leaves Chapman's head as he loses touch with reality. Well made but too focused on Chapman's madness to give the viewer much perspective. 114m/C DVD . GB Robert Kirk, Jonas Ball, Mie Omori, Krisha Fairchild; D: Andrew Piddington; W: Andrew Piddington; C: Roger Eaton; M: Makana.
