A Good Woman ★½ 2004 (PG)

Lackluster reworking of Oscar Wilde's 1892 drawing room comedy “Lady Windermere's Fan” that is now set on Italy's Amalfi coast in 1930. Penniless adventuress Mrs. Erlynne (Hunt) sets her apparently greedy eyes on wealthy American newlywed Robert Windermere (Umbers), who's honeymooning with wife Meg (Johansson). Meanwhile, devilish Lord Darlington (Campbell Moore) has designs on the naive bride. But appearances generally deceive. Hunt and Johansson are miscast and can't comfortably manage Wilde's arch bon mots, though the British actors do much better. Pic at least looks very good. 99m/C DVD .
