Paget, Rosalind (1855–1948)

English social reformer, nurse, and midwife . Name variations: Dame Rosalind Paget. Born Mary Rosalind Paget in 1855; died in 1948; daughter of John Paget (1811–1898, a police magistrate and author); cousin of Eleanor Rathbone (1872–1946).

A nurse at London Hospital, Rosalind Paget helped found the Midwives' Institute (Royal College of Midwives) in 1881, and also worked to obtain the registration of midwives, which was granted in 1902. Paget was awarded a DBE in 1935.
