Judith of Bavaria (fl. 1120s)

Duchess of Swabia. Flourished in the 1120s; daughter of Henry the Black (d. 1126), duke of Bavaria, andWolfida of Saxony (c. 1075–1126); sister of Welf also known as Guelph VI (d. 1191) and Henry the Proud (d. 1139), duke of Bavaria and Saxony; married Frederick II (c. 1100–1139), duke of Swabia; children: Frederick I Barbarossa (1123–1190), first of the Hohenstaufen kings of Germany and Holy Roman emperor (r. 1152–1190).

The marriage of Judith of Bavaria and Frederick II, duke of Swabia, united the Guelph (Welf) and Hohenstaufen families.
