Turkish-born actress, singer, and designer. Born April 1, 1880, in Constantinople, Ottoman Empire (now Istanbul, Turkey); died Oct 7, 1968, in New York, NY; dau. of Rev. M. M. Mangasarian; m. Raymond Hitchcock (actor).
Made Broadway debut as Poppy in San Toy (1900), then took over title role; with husband, appeared in King Dodo, The Yankee Consul, Easy Dawson, and A Yankee Tourist; films include The Savage Tiger and The Red Widow; launched a 2nd career as a designer (1920).
