Ranfaing, Élizabeth of (d. 1649)

French zealot. Name variations: Elizabeth de Ranfaing. Died in Nancy, France, 1649.

During a famous episode of diabolic possession (1618–25), denounced, among others, her doctor, who was burned at the stake (1622); founded a congregation for repentant prostitutes (1631), which was condemned by the pope as a sect.
