Japanese novelist. Born April 25, 1922, in Asahikawa, Hokkaido, Japan; died Oct 12, 1999; m. Miura Mitsuyo.
Works, influenced by strong Christian beliefs, include Hyôten (1964, trans. as Freezing Point, 1986), Shiokari tôge (1968, trans. as Shiokari Pass, 1968), Hosokawa Garasha fujin (1975), Deiryû chitai (1977), and Inochi aru kagiri (1995).
