Duchess of Mercoeur . Name variations: Laura Mancini; Duchesse de Mercoeur. Born in Rome in 1635 (some sources cite 1636); died in Paris, France, on February 8, 1657; first daughter of Laurent also seen as Lorenzo Mancini and a mother (maiden name Mazarini or Mazarino) who was the sister of Cardinal Jules Mazarin (chief minister to the young Louis XIV); sister of Olympia Mancini (c. 1639–1708), Marie Mancini (1640–1715), Hortense Mancini (1646–1699), and Marie-Anne Mancini (1649–1714); cousin of Anne-Marie Martinozzi (1637–1672) and Laura Martinozzi ; married Louis de Vendôme, duc de Mercoeur (grandson of Henry IV and Gabrielle d'Estrees ), in 1651; children: Louis Joseph, duc de Vendome (1654–1712, a well-known French soldier who conquered Barcelona and fought his cousin Prince Eugene of Savoy, son of Olympia Mancini, in the War of the Spanish Succession).
