A flamboyant character actress of European and American films, Lila Kedrova was born in Russia, but lived in France from 1928. She won an Academy Award as Best Supporting Actress for her portrayal of an aging French prostitute in Zorba the Greek (1964) and received the Golden Mask at Taormina for Tell Me a Riddle (1980).
