Spanish politician. Born Sept 13, 1946, in Oviedo, Spain.
Served as deputy in the Cortes (1977, 1986), member of the Bureau of the Congress of Deputies (1979), and secretary of state for the Autonomus Communities (1982–87); as a European Socialist, elected to 3rd, 4th and 5th European Parliament (EP, 1990–94, 1994–99, 1999–2004); served as chair of the EP Intergroup on the Mediterranean (1990–95).
