American actress. Name variations: Gertrude Thanhouser. Born April 23, 1880, in Beauvoir, Mississippi; died May 29, 1951, in Glen Cove, LI, NY; m. Edwin Thanhouser (pioneer film producer).

Began career as a child; in NY, created the role of Editha in Frances Hodgson Burnett's Editha's Burglar (1886) and starred in Bootie's Baby; wrote scenarios for The Winter's Tale and The Price of Her Silence.
