Hogshead, Nancy (1962–)
American swimmer. Name variations: Nancy Hogshead-Makar. Born April 17, 1962, in Iowa City, Iowa; attended Duke University.
Overcame asthma to win gold medals in the 100-meter freestyle (tying with Carrie Steinseifer), 4×100-meter medley relay, and 4×100-meter freestyle, and a silver medal in the 200-meter individual medley at Los Angeles Olympics (1984); served as president of the Women's Sport's Foundation (1993–94). Inducted into International Swimming Hall of Fame (1994).
