Australian pathologist. Born 1910 in Australia; died 2002 in Australia; Melbourne University, MD, 1934; studied cytology with Papanecolaou at Cornell University, 1955.
An early and forceful proponent of the use of the Pap smear for detecting cervical cancer, was a resident clinical pathologist at Royal Melbourne Hospital (1936) and Royal Hospital for Women in Sydney (1937–43); served as staff specialist pathologist at King George V Hospital (1943–75), where she established the 1st gynecological cytology unit in Australia.
