Heldman, Julie (1945–)
American tennis player. Born Julie Medalie Heldman, Dec 8, 1945 in Berkeley, CA; daughter of Gladys (Medalie) Heldman (1922–2003, publisher) and Julius Heldman (tennis player who also worked on the Manhattan Project); graduated Stanford University, 1966; married Bernard Weiss (businessman), 1978.
Won Italian Open, Maccabiah Games, and played for US in Wightman Cup competition (1969); graduate of UCLA Law School, became an attorney after retiring from professional tennis because of injuries (1975); as a tv commentator, was the 1st woman to give color analysis at a men's tennis tournament (1976).
