American poet and letter writer. Born 1727 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; died 1817 in Philadelphia; dau. of Thomas Griffitts and Mary Norris; never married.
Talented and well-educated daughter of wealthy Quaker family, wrote many well-crafted letters and poems but chose not to publish (manuscripts held in Library Company of Philadelphia).
