Brought up in Australia, where she made stage debut and had 1st success, as Phyllis Benton in Bull-Dog Drummond (1922); made London debut as Madeleine in Madame Pompadour (1924); other plays include None But the Brave, Easy Come Easy Go, The Flying Fool, Sexton Blake, The Limping Man, The Quitter and The Night Hawk; made film debut in The Silver Lining (1927), followed by Poppies of Flanders, Moulin Rouge, The Loves of Robert Burns, Midnight, Scrooge, They Didn't Know, The Happy Family, The Angelus and One Good Turn, among others.
