Ferrais, Amalia (1830–1904)

Italian ballet dancer. Born 1830 in Voghera, Italy; died Feb 8, 1904, in Florence, Italy.

Made professional debut at Teatro Reggio in Turin (1844); danced 1 season at Her Majesty's Theatre in London, where she performed in Paul Taglioni's Les Plaisirs de l'hiver (1849); returned to Teatro Reggio briefly in Jules Perrot's Ondine, then had a 10-year engagement at Paris Opéra; danced principal roles in such Opéra productions as Mazilier's Marco Spada (1857), Petipa's Sacountala and Graziosa (both 1861), and Monplaisir's La Camargo (1868) and Brahma (1869); retired (1869).
