Dumilâtre, Adèle (1821–1909)

French ballet dancer. Name variations: Adele Dumilatre. Born June 30, 1821, in Paris, France; died May 4, 1909, in Paris.

Studied at school of Paris Opéra with Charles Petit before joining the company (1840); danced title role in La Sylphide, one of the 1st dancers to replace famed Maria Taglioni; created roles including Myrthe for Giselle (1841) and principal role in Lady Henriette by Joseph Mazilier (1844); retired from performance career during her 20s (c. 1848).
