Dougall, Lily (1858–1923)
Canadian novelist and essayist. Born 1858 in Montreal, Canada, of Scottish descent; died 1923; studied literature and philosophy at universities of Edinburgh and St. Andrews.
Was the 1st editor of Montreal journal The Wide World; came to prominence with 1st novel, Beggars All (1891); also wrote What Necessity Knows (1893), and The Mormon Prophet (1899).
