Notorious killer, beat 83-year-old Mary Gibbons with a hammer in Our Lady of the Seven Dolores church, Dublin (Aug 1948); after Gibbons died of her wounds, was charged with murder, found guilty and sentenced to be hanged; appealed and had sentence commuted to life; served 7 years in jail and10 years in a convent.
