Polish yachtswoman. Born in Warsaw, Poland, 1937; educated as a shipbuilding engineer; married.
The 1st woman to sail solo around the world, arrived in the harbor of Las Palmas, Canary Islands (April 21, 1978), where her epic voyage of over 28,500 miles in her 32-foot yacht Mazurek had begun more than 2 years earlier.
