British novelist. Name variations: Agnes Bennett. Born Anna Maria Evans, c. 1750, in Merthyr Tydfil, Glamorgan, Wales (or Bristol); died Feb 12, 1808, in Brighton, Sussex, England; dau. of David Evans (Bristol grocer); married a tanner.
