Made Broadway debut as Carmen Bracegirdle in Lean Harvest (1931), followed by East of Broadway, The Warrior's Husband, Bury the Dead, 200 Were Chosen, The Anatomist, Let Freedom Ring, 20th Century and Sail Away, among others; toured with the National Repertory Company.
