Feminist writer. Name variations: Zadel Budington (also seen as Buddington); Zadel Barnes Gustafson. Born Zadel Barnes in 1941; died 1917; married Henry Budington (div. c. 1879); married once more; children: Henry Budington Jr. (known as Ward Barnes); grandmother of Djuna Barnes (writer).
Published stories and poems under maiden name in major magazines, including Harper's (1870s–80s); wrote novels with feminist themes.
